The Chicago-born and Brooklyn-based player and composer is a flurry of activity, and that’s not solely with his mallets. Aside from his three albums for Blue Note, he’s guested on innovative albums by Makaya McCraven and Walter Smith III & Matthew Stevens, as well as working together with Marquis Hill and Peter Evans. After studying in Chicago and later being mentored by Stefon Harris, Ross is perfectly placed to carry the torch for a new generation of jazz musicians.
