Hiromi (1979) is a Japanese pianist and composer whose lightning-fast technique and energetic performances have marked her out as one the most unique contemporary jazz players.

Hiromi was born in Hamamatsu and studied classical and jazz piano from an early age. At the age of 14, she played with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and dueted with Chick Corea after a chance meeting in Tokyo. She moved to the US, and studied with Ahmad Jamal at Berklee College in Boston. Hiromi recorded her debut album in 2003 and has toured her joyous, virtuosic style of jazz around the world ever since. Hiromi mixes post bop, stride, fusion and electronic elements into her music and has over 20 albums to her name, as well as motion picture soundtracks.
