A native New Yorker, George Braith loved the soprano and alto sax so much, he fused both of them together into a custom instrument called the Braithophone. He released several albums on Blue Note and Prestige, most notably “Musart” which blended hard bop, soul-jazz, latin and Eastern influences, to create a unique and dream-like sound. He also opened a New York club called Musart, which was an important avant-garde venue for several years before Braith moved to Europe. Now back in New York, Braith continues to perform and explore jazz harmonics.
