Anchored by her smoldering version of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ title track, the album weaves together bawdy blues (“Gimme Some,” “Take Care of Business”), sophisticated French songwriting (“Ne Me Quitte Pas,” “You’ve Got to Learn”) and jazz-infused soul, including the streaming-era anthem “Feeling Good,” whose bold, brassy arrangement still resonates today.
This special 60th anniversary edition is pressed on commemorative “Spellbound” splatter vinyl, cut from the original sources, and housed in a deluxe jacket featuring embossed elements in metallic gold.
