Ella Fitzgerald’s Songbook records, showcasing her peerless renditions of songs by iconic composers including Irving Berlin, Cole Porter and George Gershwin, are the cornerstone of the Verve catalogue and the veritable standard for jazz vocal recordings. As influential as these albums were on the history of jazz and American Popular Song, Ella never released any live versions. Until now. Discovered in the private collection of producer Norman Granz, this landmark 1958 recording featuring previously unheard interpretations of timeless tunes by Irving Berlin is the first time a live Songbook has been released from the First Lady of Song.
