Wayne Shorter: Etcetera LP (Tone Poet Series)

Wayne Shorter

Blue Note, 1980

This quartet session from 1965, has long been considered one of Wayne Shorter's finest studio albums, even though it remained unreleased until 1980. Etcetera features all Shorter compositions, with the exception of Gil Evan's passionate “Barracudas.” Shorter's "Indian Song" takes its place as one of his most intensely hypnotising compositions. Etcetera is one of the true highlights of the Shorter discography, perfectly showcasing his capabilities and both a muscular and truly tender player.
