The Nels Cline Singers are an American free jazz group led by guitarist and composer Nels Cline (born 1956), who fuse avant-garde and noise with post-rock sensibilities.

The Nels Cline Singers

Cline was born in Los Angeles, and grew up playing jazz with his brother Alex Cline on drums. However, Cline was also drawn to punk, alt-rock and free improvisation, performing with other adventurous guitarists like Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth and Stephan Perkins of Jane’s Addiction. These various musical styles coalesce in The Nels Cline Singers, his band with bassist Devin Hoff and drummer Scott Amendola. Their latest album “Share The Wealth” saw added players creating a whirlwind improvised sound palette. Cline himself has recorded several albums for Blue Note, and continues to be one of America’s busiest and in-demand guitar players.
