Ezra Collective
The quintet is based around brothers Femi and TJ Koleoso on drums and bass, alongside Joe Armon-Jones on keys, trumpeter Ife Ogunjobi, and saxophonist James Mollison. They met as part of Gary Crosby’s Tomorrow’s Warriors jazz programme and were soon a feature of South London’s jazz scene. Their exciting mix of afrobeat, calypso, grime, hip-hop, soul and jazz is indicative of the capital’s musical make-up. The group has received much acclaim and several awards for its album “Where I’m Meant To Be”, culminating in the national Mercury Prize, a first for a jazz album in the prize’s 31 year history.
